Andres ConesaDr. Andres Conesa earned his B.A. in Economics from the Instituto Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM) in Mexico City and his PhD in Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He obtained Fulbright and Ford MacArthur scholarships, and in 1997 he was awarded with the Banamex National Prize in Economic Research. Dr. Conesa has held several positions in the Mexican Public Administration, including: Advisor to the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (1990-1991), Advisor to the Secretary of the Economic Cabinet of the Presidency (1991-1993), Chief Advisor to the Undersecretary of Finance and Public Credit (1997-1998), and Director General for International Financial Affairs in the Ministry of Finance (1998-2000). He served as Director General of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Finance (2000-2003) and as Deputy Undersecretary for Public Credit from August 2003 to December 2004, when he was appointed Chairman of the Board of the airline holding company CINTRA. Dr. Conesa was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Aeromexico in December 2005. After the sale of Consorcio Aeromexico in October 2007, the new Board of Directors ratified Dr. Conesa as CEO of the airline. |
